Family Planning and Fertility

The decision to start trying for a baby is deeply personal and often marks the culmination of many life choices and milestones. For many, it’s an exciting and hopeful time, filled with anticipation and nervous excitement. However, the journey to parenthood isn’t always straightforward. Some hopeful parents face expected challenges, such as needing donor gametes for 2SLGBTQIA+ parents or single parents by choice, while others encounter unexpected obstacles, like a new medical diagnosis or the uncertainty of "unexplained" infertility. No matter the path, the experience can be complex and emotional. I am here to support you through the process. Together, we can create a supportive space to grieve the unexpected changes in your journey to parenthood, navigate the complex emotions that arise, and process each step as it unfolds.

Implications Counselling

Fertility clinics require counselling reports for families using third-party reproduction to ensure all parties fully understand the implications of their decisions. I provide implications counselling for families using donor gametes (eggs, sperm, or embryos), those pursuing surrogacy, individuals considering becoming a surrogate, and those exploring gamete donation.

Infertility

The desire to have a child when you feel ready is so powerful, but when it doesn’t happen easily, it can lead to month after month of disappointment. Many people struggle with feelings of sadness, anger, guilt, and isolation. Infertility is an invisible loss that others may not fully understand. What was once a private dream can quickly turn into a complex medical process, filled with uncertainty, difficult decisions, and financial strain. It can be difficult to explain the complex process of fertility treatments to friends and family who have not experienced it themselves - thus furthering feelings of isolation. For those on this path, finding support, compassion, and understanding can help the journey feel more bearable.

Decision Making Support

Counseling sessions provide a supportive space for individuals or partners to navigate important decisions throughout the fertility journey. This can include topics such as choosing a donor, deciding whether to have another child, or determining what to do with extra embryos once their family is complete.

Loss

An incredibly painful part of the family-building journey can be loss, whether through miscarriage, failed embryo transfer, termination, stillbirth, or other heartbreaking challenges along the way. I provide compassionate support to help parents grieve, process, and navigate these losses with care and tenderness.
